Raynes Park High School is a mixed comprehensive secondary school catering for students of all abilities aged 11-16.
The school has experienced and well-qualified staff, excellent resources and facilities, and a full range of courses designed to meet the needs and interests of every pupil and to challenge them to develop their talents to the full.
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum which, through our designation as a Technology College, is provided in a technologically-rich teaching and learning environment. Our up-to-date Information and Communications Technology (ICT) resources enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum and equip our students with the skills they will need for our technologically advanced society.
We have specialist facilities for all departments including a self-contained ‘Design’ Building with modern facilities for Textiles, Food Technology, Graphic Products and Resistant Materials; nine Science laboratories, some new or recently refurbished, all equipped with interactive whiteboards; a multimedia Learning Resource Centre (library) accessible to students for study and research before and after school and hosting a fully staffed Homework Club every evening; a Learning Development Department (supporting special needs students) with its own computer facility; modern drama studios; state-of-the-art facilities for the music department with provision for both traditional and computer generated music; a main hall equipped for large scale productions; a full size floodlit all-weather pitch used for a variety of sports; three floodlit all-weather tennis courts; a good dining room serving a good range of refreshments, breakfasts and lunches; and three purpose built art studios.
Our aim is to create a caring, challenging and secure environment where all pupils develop academically and socially so that they may be well prepared to take their place as responsible citizens within society.
Our school motto, "To each his need, from each his power", was created by the famous poet, W.H. Auden, a friend of the first head teacher. This powerful quotation emphasises our commitment to identifying, encouraging and developing our students’ talents and skills to ensure that each achieves to the very best of his or her individual ability. This ambition is only possible in a supportive environment where students can relate to and contribute to their school community and have the opportunity to develop their social and leadership skills as they prepare for life after secondary school.
We have high expectations of our students – their academic, social and moral development lies at the heart of everything we do. We believe in challenging them to go beyond what they think the might be capable of. We are proud of all their achievements and look forward to an exciting stage in the history of the school as we have just passed our 70th anniversary. Our extensive building and refurbishment programme is now complete and all areas of the school curriculum are benefiting from our specialist status.
Within a caring and supportive learning environment our students gain a first rate education which meets and goes beyond the demands of the National Curriculum. There are additionally many opportunities for students to explore a wide range of extra-curricular activities outside the classroom.
Our continuing success is made possible through the partnership of mutual respect and cooperation that exists across the school and local community – students, staff, parents, governors and local residents. We are particularly proud that so many of our staff send their own children here.
